Family Tree, What is in a family tree? The simplest explanation is that your family tree starts with you and goes back in time, recording your parents, their parents, your parents parents and so on. Most of us know a little information about the family tree going back to our grandparents. Beyond that, however, is often a mystery. If you like history, you will love family tree research. Family tree research is your personal history, where you come from, what traits you have inherited, and the luck indeed that you are around at all today.
We started our family tree research because we love research and want to
know our own history. Here are some quick tips if you want to start your
own research or ask a researcher to work on your behalf.
Find out
as much information that you can about yourself, your parents, grandparents
and any other known ancestors. Take copies of any birth, marriage or death
certificates that you can find. Ask your relatives what they know, who they
remember. Basically quiz all your relatives until you think they have given
you all the information that they know. Always start with the known factors,
never presume. Check your facts and don't rely solely on hearsay. However
there is usually a hint of truth in any rumour. If you are interested in
finding out more, warts and all, get in touch with us at admin@geneology.org,uk.
